Here we are, the last month of 2020. WOW! This pandemic brought on a lot of change in our world—how we work, go to school, worship, shop and a lot of other lifestyle changes. Even our recreational activities changed. For some, these changes have not been convenient nor desirable, but we must make them in order to continue living our lives safely. I know some of you aren’t happy. Maybe your personal life took a hit and you’re trying to put it back together. Maybe you don’t like your job, or don’t even have one. You don’t feel confident. Some of you may have failing relationships or simply aren’t fulfilled. Maybe you gained some pounds and need to shed them. Maybe you need to take care of your mental well-being. All of this requires you to make your own changes, but they should be positive changes. And, you don’t have to wait until 2021 to start.
Do not wait until 2021
I’m thinking there’s a really good chance 2021 will also have its challenges, but don’t allow those challenges to get in the way of making it a great year. It doesn’t matter where you are because if it’s not where you want to be, you must create change now.
Have you used your time wisely? Was there something you envisioned doing before the pandemic but maybe got discouraged? Like learning a new trade, a new language, going to the gym, opening a new business, a side hustle?
There are so many things you can do to change and improve your life. You still have time. Just because COVID-19 got in the way and messed up your plans for the year, it doesn’t mean your whole life is messed up!
You can start making changes now
For some, 2020 caused improvement. For many others, not so much. BUT you can improve now. Now is a good a time as any! Life will continue and we still have dreams and visions about how we want our life to look. It’s not always easy to make changes, but consider this: if you had started making a change at the beginning of this pandemic, where would you be now? What would that look like for you? If it’s still a pretty image, one that requires you to make a change, then make it. Start now, start where you are. Time will continue to pass just like it did while all this chaos was happening and continues to happen. Don’t be scared of what the future holds. Don’t avoid living. And above all else, don’t worry about it. We never know what the future will bring, but I know one thing is certain. Your future will not change if you don’t.
Change doesn’t have to be hard
Change can be hard at first, I get it. I have experienced change and honestly it’s uncomfortable. But if you focus on something other than discomfort, you can make those changes. One reason people resist change is because they focus on what they have to give up. For example, if you’ve been wanting to start a business but struggling to leave a job where you are miserable, think about what you have to gain, rather than what you will be losing like your benefits and your retirement. Think about the fact that what you have to gain is bigger and better! You’re meant to be in a better place. A place of freedom, first and foremost, and then the ability to take your business and build it on your terms. Yes, the big-time success may take a while, but it will depend on YOU. You are ultimately working for you, for your freedom, for your well-being and inner peace. All of which you may not have working for someone else. Another example, you want to lose weight and get in shape. Think about the benefits, about how good you will feel after every workout as opposed to how you feel now. Think about what losing those pounds and eating healthier will do for your self-esteem and your health. Imagine yourself slipping into smaller clothes! If that is your goal, then make the required changes to make it happen.
Make a change now
The bottom line is, if you’re not where you want to be, then start making a change now. Try to improve, then keep at it. You must continue to do your best and put one foot in front of the other. Forward is better than at a standstill any day! You will improve and you will succeed, but you must begin to take action to create change. Anyone who has made a significant change, will never ever say it was easy. What they will say is, it was worth it! So, the big question is: what is holding you back from making a positive change now? If you need help accessing the answer to this, let’s talk. Knowing what is holding you back is the first step to moving forward.
